Offshore Hull Structural Engineer

Position: Offshore Structural Engineer – Hull Location: Busan, South Korea Duration: 6 months (extendable) Start: ASAP Industry: Offshore / Oil & Gas / Shipbuilding

🎯 Mission

To support the engineering team based in Busan for the Hull structural scope of a major offshore project. The role involves structural analysis, verification, and technical coordination within a multidisciplinary environment.

🛠 Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis of hull structures for offshore units.

• Contribute to global and local structural assessments.

• Execute and/or review calculations in compliance with applicable offshore codes and classification rules.

• Interface with naval architects, outfitting teams, and yard engineering departments.

• Support technical reviews and ensure timely delivery of structural documentation.

• Participate in design optimization and technical problem-solving during construction phases.

🧩 Technical Requirements

• Degree in Structural Engineering, Naval Architecture, or Offshore Engineering.

• Proven experience in offshore hull structural design.

• Experience with at least some of the following tools:

  • NASTRAN / PATRAN

  • SACS

  • Nauticus 3D Beam (DNV GL)

• At least one of the structural engineers must have strong FEA experience.

• Knowledge of offshore classification society requirements (DNV, ABS, etc.) is a plus.

🌍 Language & Soft Skills

• Ability to work in Busan, South Korea.

• Korean language skills preferred (or willingness to work in a Korean-speaking environment).

• Strong English communication skills (spoken and written).

• Good coordination and teamwork abilities.
