Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Offshore Umbilical and Flexible Pipeline Installation Methods Lead to oversee the development, planning, and execution of installation methodologies for offshore umbilical and flexible pipeline systems. This critical role ensures that all installation activities are performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications and industry standards. The successful candidate will act as the technical authority for umbilical and flexible pipeline installation, liaising with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and clients to ensure project success.
1. Technical Leadership
Lead the development of installation methods for offshore umbilical and flexible pipelines, ensuring technical robustness and alignment with project requirements.
Manage engineering studies, technical documentation, and design reviews related to flexible and umbilical systems.
Act as the focal point for resolving technical challenges during the design, planning, and execution phases.
2. Project Planning & Preparation:
Review project scopes, specifications, and deliverables to ensure comprehensive installation planning.
Interface with other SURF specialists and disciplines to ensure coordination and consistency across the project.
Develop and review detailed method statements, risk assessments, and installation procedures.
Supervise the detailed engineering process, ensuring the timely delivery of documentation and compliance with project requirements.
Provide ongoing feedback to management regarding the status of activities and potential risks.
3. Execution Oversight
Supervise offshore installation campaigns for both umbilical and flexible pipelines, providing guidance and troubleshooting as required.
Coordinate with vessel and offshore teams to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Ensure Interface and Coordination between Client and internal engineering teams.
Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
4. Quality & Safety Assurance:
Ensure all installation activities for umbilical and flexible pipelines comply with health, safety, and environmental standards.
Conduct risk analyses and develop mitigation strategies for offshore operations.
5. Stakeholder Engagement:
Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure alignment on project objectives.
Facilitate communication between onshore and offshore teams to address issues promptly.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify and implement lessons learned from projects to improve future installation methodologies.
Stay updated with advancements in installation technologies and best practices for both umbilical and flexible pipelines.
Qualifications and Experience:
Education: Master's degree in Engineering.
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in Oil & Gas industry, with a strong focus on umbilicals and flexible pipelines systems design, manufacturing, and installation.
Proven experience in leading installation campaigns, including vessel mobilization and offshore execution.
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of subsea umbilical and flexible pipeline manufacturing, testing, and installation processes.
Knowledge and familiarity with installation analysis software (e.g., OrcaFlex) is a plus.
Familiarity with offshore installation equipment required for umbilical and flexible pipeline installation.
Proficiency in MS Office package, MS Project, CAD tools
Certifications:
Relevant engineering certifications (e.g., Chartered Engineer, PMP) are a plus.
Soft Skills:
Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Proficient in stakeholder management and conflict resolution.
Languages:
Mandatory fluent in English (written and spoken).
French and Italian are plus.
Work Environment:
Initial period of presence in Paris Area, France is required.
Flexibility for Hybrid/remote working possible, depending on project requirements
