Role Overview
On behalf of our key client—a global leader in subsea cable manufacturing, installation, and repair—we are seeking a Project Engineer to join their Inspection, Maintenance & Repair (IMR) Department.
While the core activity of this role is managing IMR operations on a global scale, a solid background as an Installation Engineer (Offshore Cables) is a fundamental requirement. We are looking for a professional who can leverage their installation expertise to design, document, and execute complex repair strategies for offshore assets worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
· Repair Methodology: Lead the development of Method Statements and Technical Procedures for subsea cable repairs, including fault localization, de-burial, cable recovery, and re-laying.
· Global Operations: Coordinate and support IMR projects across diverse international environments, adapting procedures to specific regional and technical requirements.
· Technical Interface: Act as the primary technical point of contact for international clients, subcontractors, and authorities regarding the scope of work and IMR documentation.
· Managing Subcontractors: prepare RfQs for key repair activities (vessels, cable protection, seabed preparation) and revise technical offers.
· Operational Planning: Prepare and review documentation for:
o Repair Campaigns: Recovery, offshore splicing/jointing, and re-lay operations.
o Post-Repair Protection: Jetting, mechanical trenching, and rock placement.
o Vessel Coordination: Mobilization plans and deck layouts for specialized repair equipment.
· Safety & Standards: Ensure all technical solutions adhere to the highest international safety (HSE) and quality standards.
Requirements
· Core Experience: Solid background as an Installation Engineer (offshore power cables).
· Sector Versatility: Specific experience in Subsea Cable Repair is highly desirable. Experience in Offshore Oil & Gas (Sealine/Pipeline) installation or repair is considered a significant advantage.
· Methodology Skills: Proven expertise in drafting and reviewing complex Method Statements and operational procedures.
· Software: Professional proficiency in AutoCAD and standard engineering documentation suites.
· Education: Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Marine, or Subsea Engineering, or equivalent.
· Language: Professional English is mandatory; knowledge of Italian is a plus.
Work Conditions & Location
· Remote Work: This position offers a flexible remote working model.
· Commuting: Monthly face-to-face meetings at the Milan headquarters are mandatory.
· Candidate Location: Preference will be given to candidates residing in or near Milan to facilitate regular collaboration and meeting attendance.
· Travel: Availability for international occasional travels to project sites (onshore/offshore) as required by global operations.
