AVENTA is a leading engineering and project management consultancy firm for the Energy sector. On behalf of a major Client in the Oil & Gas industry, we are seeking a highly experienced Planning Engineer for a strategic project in the Mediterranean.

Project Overview

The successful candidate will join the Project Services team overseeing a high-profile project involving the construction of new sealines and the revamping of existing offshore platforms. This is a long-term assignment based in Milan (Home Office), with a project duration extending through December 31, 2027.

Key Responsibilities

The role focuses on comprehensive schedule management, progress tracking, and administrative compliance to ensure the project meets its strategic deadlines:

  • Project Planning & Scheduling: Developing and maintaining the Project Master Schedule (Level 3/4), ensuring the logical sequencing of engineering, procurement, and offshore construction phases.

  • Progress Control: Monitoring actual project progress against the baseline, identifying potential delays, and performing Critical Path Analysis (CPA) to mitigate risks.

  • S-Curves & Histograms: Generating and analyzing S-curves and manpower histograms to track performance, productivity, and resource allocation.

  • Technical Reporting: Preparing detailed weekly and monthly progress reports for both internal management and the Client.

  • What-if Analysis: Conducting "what-if" scenarios to evaluate the impact of project changes or unforeseen events on the final completion date.

  • Document & Admin Management: Ensuring the accuracy of all planning-related documentation and the systematic compilation of project timesheets.

  • Interfacing: Working closely with Project Management and Technical Leads to ensure the schedule reflects the reality of offshore operations and revamping activities.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in Project Planning and Scheduling within the Oil & Gas sector, with a proven track record in Offshore and Subsea projects.

  • Software Proficiency: Expert knowledge of Primavera P6 is mandatory; high proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) for data modeling and reporting.

  • Project Controls Expertise: Solid understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM), progress measurement methodologies, and scheduling best practices for brownfield/revamping environments.

  • Languages: Full professional proficiency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory; knowledge of Italian is a strong asset.

  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical mindset, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a high-pressure Project Services environment.
