Senior Project Engineer (HVDC UK submarine cable) H/F

Role Definition

Reporting to the Project Director (PD) based in Milan HQ the resource will:

• Continuously interfacing with the Client, actively participating to the project management weekly and monthly meetings

• Prepare monthly progress reports, minute of meeting, lookahead programmes

• Prepare Project documentation as required (e.g. Communication Plan, Stakeholder Plan, Interface Plan, License/Permits Plan, Risk Register, etc.)

• Act as main interface with Permitting Manager, participate to the meetings with Land Owners, Authorities, Asset Owners and follow-up any action needed to obtain permits on time cooperating with Employer

• Making sure a Permits obtainment schedule is in place and properly monitored

• Responsible to update Project Actions Tracker Register and follow-up any actions dealing with the relevant Function

• Be familiar with Master Document Register and follow-up documentation review cycle with Customer and Marine Warranty Surveyor guaranteeing timely documentation readiness

• As required participate to the bidders section and preparation of the documentation package required for the bissign phase

• Managing Project subcontractors involved for the following activities: cable landfall assistance, HDD construction, civil works, marine survey

• Ensure compliance with HSE policies and regulations, championing a safety-first culture

• Collection of the Lessons Learnt

Qualifications and Experience

• Master’s degree in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering

• Minimum of 5 years working experience as Project Engineer for major Oil&Gas EPC Contractor or Civil Contractor. Preferably involved in Project comprising engineering, procurement and installation of the HV cable both onshore and offshore (marine survey, cable laying, protection, landfall, cable pulling, etc)

• Familiar with procurement process and technical bid evaluation of the bidders’ proposal

• Preparation of engineering and project management documentation

• Follow-up of documentation review cycle with Employer and Marine Warranty Surveyor

• Experience with permits and consent management process (permits to access the Site, crossing agreements, liaison with Land Owner, etc.)

• Experience in managing Interface between different Contractors working within the same Worksite (e.g. Converter Station and or landfall)

• Supplier and Subcontractor management

Key experience

• Preferable 2/3 years experience on site supervising construction civil works like trenching, backfilling, HDD execution, sheet pile installation, land cable pulling, landfall pulling, etc.

• Experience working on Projects with National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) or Scottish & Southern Electricity Network (SSEN)

• Good knowledge of:

o The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (UK law)

o National Grid Electricity Transmission Design Management Requirements (i.e. Supplier Requirements SR-188 “Design Management”)

o BS 5975 Temporary Works Procedure
