Role summary

Under the responsibility of the HSE & Safety Engineering Manager, your main responsibilities will be to:

• Perform safety engineering activities in autonomy while interfacing with other disciplines and under the supervision of a manager.

• Work in a multi-project environment and execute tasks related to general safety (Hazardous Area Classification (HAC), Fire & Gas (F&G), Escape, Evacuation and Rescue (EER), Life Saving Appliances (LSA), etc.).

• Conduct HSE Design activities including HAZID/HAZOP/SIL reviews, Safety Critical Element (SCE) assessments, Performance Standards development, and Human Factor Engineering.

• Prepare, review, and follow up on safety studies and risk assessments for Oil & Gas or energy sector projects.

• Specify, organize, and monitor safety reviews to ensure compliance with industry standards and project requirements.

• Develop and review basic safety engineering deliverables such as Fire and Explosion Risk Analysis and Gas Dispersion Analysis.

• Ensure all safety engineering activities align with project objectives, industry codes, and company HSE procedures.

• Interface with project teams, engineering disciplines, and external stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of safety requirements.

• Support the preparation and review of technical documentation, including specifications, reports, and risk assessment deliverables.

• Participate in project meetings, design reviews, audits, and hazard identification sessions (e.g., HAZID, HAZOP, SIL).

• Ensure compliance with HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality) and Group procedures throughout project execution.

• Provide technical support during project phases, including fabrication, testing, and commissioning activities.

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of safety engineering processes and knowledge sharing within the discipline.

• Mentor junior engineers and support their professional development in safety engineering practices.

• Be aware of overall project planning and ensure timely delivery of assigned tasks within budget constraints.

• Attend and contribute to project-related events such as bid clarifications, kick-off meetings, and design reviews.

Qualifications

• Graduated from a Grande Ecole d'Ingénieurs or university with a degree in Chemical Processing, Industrial Risk, Mechanical Engineering, HSE, or a related field.

• Knowledge of Oil & Gas operations and familiarity with industry standards and best practices.

• At least one year of experience in specifying, organizing, or following up on safety reviews and performing basic safety engineering deliverables (e.g., HAC, F&G, Fire and Explosion Risk Analysis, Gas Dispersion Analysis) in the Oil & Gas or energy sector.

• Proficiency in both French and English (written and spoken).

• Valid certifications: BOSIET (OPITO), MFC (Medical Fitness Certificate), and Seaman Book.

• Ability to work in a multicultural and multidisciplinary team environment.

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in safety engineering and risk assessment.

• Ability to prioritize workload, manage time effectively, and meet project deadlines.

• Demonstrated ability to work within time and budget constraints.

• Experience in vendor and third-party interface management is a plus.

Conditions

• Majority of the work is carried out at the company’s main office or designated project site.

• Occasional travel to project sites, offshore locations, or client offices may be required.

• Working hours adhere to local regulations and the company’s policy.
