  1. International Welding Engineer Job Description:

International Welding Engineer/Technologist with at least five years of experience in oil and gas field, including metallurgical engineering, gained in a construction or fabrication facilities. Develop and qualify Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) and related Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS). Follow up and supervise welder qualifications testing, interact with welding operation (manufacturing and repair), suppliers, 3rd party, NDE personnel and meet customer requirements.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

BID OR BEFORE PROJECT EXECUTION

  • Analyze project specific’s requirements for Welding & NDE activities, interpreting regulatory and statutory requirements, codes and customer specifications relating to fabrication, welding, and materials.

  • Review project specifications related to welding process, filler metals, heat treatment, and NDE requirements.

  • Review project specifications for cost exceptions to achieve maximum productivity in accordance with required quality levels.

  • Select appropriate WPS, and if required, develop and qualify new WPS/PQR,

  • Prepare and issue preliminary Welding Documents for assigned project or bids

  • Coordinate and schedule personnel and equipment for the qualification of welding procedures and welders

  • Develop welding procedure data sheets when new WPSs are qualified.

  • Evaluate and estimate type and quantity of welding consumables during tendering and project execution.

  • Review subcontractors’ tender documents and technical qualifications

  • Review and approve subcontractors Welding submissions

  • Review of Vendors’ documentation, such as procedures (NDE, PWHT, etc.), Welding Books, etc.

  • Technical support to other engineering disciplines during their requisitioning activities, project support functions and construction teams

  • Review welding techniques and application of welding equipment to problems involving fabrication of components, utilizing knowledge of production specifications, properties and characteristics of metals and metal alloys, and engineering principles.

DURING PROJECT EXECUTION

  • Prepare and issue Welding Documents (Welding Books, WPSs, WPQR, PTW report, Procedures, etc.)

  • Submit the selected WPS(s) and supporting PQR(s), welder qualification records, and any additional information (e.g., weld maps, additional NDE or inspection, cost exceptions, etc.) to the Project Manager for approval.

  • Prepare Purchase Requests for Welding Consumable and liaise with suppliers;

  • Review existing Welder’s Qualification (WPQ) and supervise new one.

  • Review order packages and advise the Project Manager of potential materials, welding, heat treatment, or NDE problems.

  • Monitor welding consumables stock and quality of storage in the project field.

  • Ensure that welding traceability info are recorded, maintained and available in the required format for all welding activities to demonstrate achievement of client requirements.

  • Contract Technical review to verify Project Technical requirements for Welding Activities

  • Update and report constantly Head Quarter regarding the project status, quality and productivity progress. 

 

OTHER RESPONSABILITIES

 

  • Review existing Procedure Qualifications (PQR) and supervise new one (knowledge of main mechanical tests such as tensile, bend, impact)

  • Supervise research and investigations to develop and test new fabrication processes and procedures, improve existing or modify current welding methods, techniques, and procedures.

  • Directs and coordinates technical personnel in performing inspections to ensure workers' compliance with established welding procedures, restrictions, and standards;

  • Review technical procedures and reports as result of NDE investigation.

  • Review journals and technical papers for new welding technology. Maintain contact with welding equipment suppliers and consumable vendors to promote advances in welding technology

 

Work Experience:

 

  • Having at least five years of practical experience in pipeline construction.

  • Must be a team player with leadership, motivation and technical skills;

  • Computer literate with experience in using Microsoft Outlook, Internet, Excel and Word Applications;

  • Understanding of English with multicultural experience;
